A rotation schedule with a reason on every cell

A rotation schedule is the grid of who is on which service in which block. A block is often four weeks. It can also be a different length, a calendar month, or one side of an x-y cycle. Schedultary stores that grid with a stable id for each resident, rotation, rule, and block. You can put someone in a block, split a block when the calendar allows, or clear a cell. Generate fills an unpublished year from the rules and the approved requests. Afterward you can ask why a cell is what it is. The answer names the rule and the counts, in one sentence an assistant can repeat.

Blocks do not have to be identical

You can run equal blocks, calendar months, or an x-y pattern. A program that needs a short block and a long block can say so. Assignments can cover part of a block when that part fits inside the block. The starter does not force every rotation to the same length.

Requirements are counts you edit

A required rotation is a count for a class or across the residency. Electives fill what the requirements leave open. A specialty starter may suggest counts. They are marked as a catalog for you to edit. An empty requirement does not pretend a national body already signed it.

Questions

Can two residents share a block?

Yes, when you split the block into parts that fit its length, or when the rotation's capacity allows more than one person.

What is Worth a Look versus Must Fix?

Must Fix breaks a hard rule or a minimum. Worth a Look is a soft miss you may still accept.

Can I lock a cell the generator should not touch?

Yes. A manual placement can stay while other cells are regenerated and leave you have protected is kept.
