Automated scheduling that still lets you publish

Automated scheduling means the draft is built in one pass from rules, preferences, and the full set of requests, instead of being typed cell by cell. You still review coverage and fairness, change a placement when you want, and publish. Nothing on the site builds or publishes a draft in the background. If a draft already exists, replacing it takes an explicit confirmation, including from an assistant.

What the generator is allowed to do

It fills open duties up to the minimums you set. It honors hard rules. It uses soft rules as pressure toward a fairer month, including load and Saturday-Sunday balance. It keeps a locked assignment where you left it. It will not publish over a coverage hole or a mandatory-rule conflict.

The same pass for a residency year

A program generates an unpublished academic year as rotations by block, then call on top. A published year is refused, so a live year is not overwritten by a second generate. Open issues come back as Must Fix or Worth a Look, each with a plain message.

Questions

Will automation publish without me?

No. Generate and publish are separate. Publish stops while coverage or a mandatory rule is still broken.

Can I undo a generated month?

You can replace a draft by generating again, after you confirm the replacement. Published shifts stay until you edit them. An assistant's changes also show in Activity.

Does automation ignore a request that came in late?

Requests stay open until the deadline you set. You can close the window early and reopen it before that deadline.
