Staff scheduling software for the person who owns the month

Staff scheduling software is for the manager who still has the final say. Schedultary keeps that order. You set shifts, hours, and how many people the floor needs. Staff file requests in a window. The generator builds a draft from those requests and your rules. You check coverage and fairness, change what you want, and publish. Staff then see their shifts and can ask for a swap. A swap is checked against the same rules and you approve or deny it.

Staff can see the month without chasing you

After publish, each person gets a free calendar link. They file preferences and time off from their own account, check the next shift, and request a swap. Reminders go out before the request deadline so you are not collecting replies by text. The website works in any phone browser. An iPhone app is optional.

You can hand the busywork to an assistant

A signed-in admin can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, or another assistant that speaks MCP. Ask it to read the roster, list open issues, generate the next draft, or approve a request you already decided. Read Only access can look and cannot change anything. Admin changes show in Activity under the app or key name.

Questions

Who publishes the staff schedule?

You do. Generate fills a draft. Publish is a separate step. It waits while a coverage gap or a mandatory rule is still broken.

Can employees change their own shifts?

They can file requests and ask for a swap. A swap updates the roster after the rules pass and you approve it.
